I bet that you didn’t know that a bomber crashed into the Empire State building in New York in 1945. Well, I didn't either, until I listened to Alistair Cooke’s audiobook entitled Letters from America. This recording is contained within the biographical section.
Another interesting category is classic literature where you will find such masterpieces as The Great Gatsby, Walt Whitman’s poetry and the ever popular Frankenstein. Still staying within the Arts and Drama category, there is a wide range of fully dramatized Shakespearean plays. I always found it difficult to read some of the great bard’s plays but now find it much easier to listen to them being narrated by well known actors. A full range of Shakespeare’s plays is in the drama section and there is also a Shakespeare sub category. This provides students with a very good opportunity to listen to a fully dramatised version of a Shakespearean play which will give them a better feel of the play.
For those of you with an interest in music, you will find a comprehensive range of music related MP3 audio books including Bob Dylan, Classical Music and such gems as The History of the Opera.
And, finally for lovers of verse, the poetry audio books are well worth listening to. Some famous names here, including W B Yeats, Walt Whitman, H W Longfellow and Dylan Thomas. |
